APPRENTICESHIPS
Our founder Steve Day holds the company Apprenticeship programme dear to his heart, believing that we should offer every opportunity to those wishing to learn and be part of our success. We offer apprenticeships for ages 17 and over, providing full training and guidance in all aspects of flooring, from first learning to gripper a room all the way up to preparing sub-floors for luxury vinyl installation.
Whilst on their journey, apprentices are continuously moved between fitting teams that specialise in different flooring areas, not only to discover each aspect of the trade but also to help improve their communication and social skills. And as they continue to learn we continue to invest, offering regular pay reviews and increased responsibility.
Day release programmes are offered for advanced skills development, and our dedicated training academy and NVQ Level 2 – Pathway 6 course in Floor Covering (outlined below) also plays a big part of our Apprenticeship programme – with in-house practical learning areas and training managers on hand to assist and assess every step of the way. At Contract Flooring Solutions, we strive to improve our Apprenticeship programme every single day.
ACADEMY
The purpose of our training academy is to help all of our staff continuously learn, grow and develop their skills. We are an approved Construction Skills Awards Centre with in-house practical training areas and we have partnered with Bournville College and Further Education in Birmingham to create an NVQ Level 2 – Pathway 6 in Floor Covering.
In order to pass the course, students are required to achieve a minimum GCSE Grace C in English and Maths, plus be competent in communications with co-workers and customers, and to learn a series of specific floor planning and design skills, as well as practical floor laying skills.
Our dedicated training managers and senior assessors constantly track staff progress (using our own purpose built IT systems), and they are also qualified to assess external prospects seeking to acquire NVQ Level 2 – Pathway 6 in Floor Covering. This added extra enables us as a company to give back to the flooring industry – helping to improve the knowledge, skills and prospects of the next generation.
EMPLOYMENT
At Contract Flooring Solutions, we fully employ a workforce of hundreds across multiple locations, including quantity surveyors, installers, training managers, IT experts, customer care agents and general admin staff.
Employment empowers all of our staff to uphold the same values as our leadership team – being the highest levels of workmanship, efficiency and customer care possible, but it also enables us to be very responsive to the needs, wants and requirements of our customers (House Builders and Housing Associations).
Our ultimate staff goal is for every installer to be fully versed, highly trained and adaptable in every aspect of flooring, and for them to be made to feel part of the company, helping to shape the future of it. Our staff are the very key to our success.
